JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Under the general and direct supervision of the Clinic Coordinator, provides clerical, secretarial, receptionist and medical record support for the clinic. Performs other diverse duties as requested or required.

Computer Systems: GE Centricity Practice Management (PM), GE Centricity Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Kryptiq Secure Messaging, Satellite Med Email and Website, Microsoft Word and PC Punch Time Clock.

Primary Duties

Direct and indirect patient care services that ensure the safety, comfort and protection of patients. The performance of skin test, injections, and withdrawal of human blood from veins, and placement of intravenous (IV) lines as needed. The observation of signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior of general physical condition, the implementation of appropriate reporting of referral, and the initiation of emergency procedures. Direct and indirect patient care services necessary to implement a treatment regimen ordered by a physician. Upon initial hiring successfully completes an orientation checklist signed by the lab manager and annual competency assessment is required. Follows quality control guidelines in accordance with departmental duties assigned such as ordering supplies, compiling data for reports, keeping current MSDS, labeling hazardous chemicals, etc.

Secondary Duties

Orders

Order all appropriate testing including in-house lab work and reference lab work as guided by physician protocol or under direct orders.

Equipment

Maintains and operates all laboratory equipment according to policy. Various types of laboratory instrumentation will be used. Must be able to lean the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of job specific instruments.

Procedures

Assist physicians and other staff with all procedures as directed. Follow appropriate protocol to ensure the patients’ health and safety. Performs phlebotomy for the collection of blood samples for testing. Collect or instructs patients in the proper technique for the collection of throat and nasal swabs, urine, stool, and sputum upon receiving physicians request.

Phones

Utilize phone system properly, answer phones in a courteous manner, quickly identify caller’s needs, route calls appropriately, create complete flags and phone notes and route properly. Reply to all phone notes and flags in a timely manner. Respond to all patient questions and request within physician protocol or under the specific direction.

Communication

Communicate with all staff, patients, and other healthcare providers using phones, CPS Flags and phone notes, secure messaging and company email; utilizing each method when appropriate. Company and staff updates are posted on the website in the staff section. Follow up and seek resolutions to complaints and reports them to a supervisor and office manager. Reports all incidents as per policy.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position is also responsible for keeping the front lobby clean and stocked.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This position offers both part-time and full-time positions.

No travel is expected for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience

· Minimum of a high school education or equivalent is required.

· Prior work experience in a lab preferred but not required. Pay rate is based upon experience level
