JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Under the general and direct supervision of the Clinic Coordinator, provides nursing support for the clinic. Responsible for answering calls, flow of correspondence, requisition of supplies. Perform other diverse duties as requested or required.

Computer Systems: GE Centricity Practice Management (PM), GE Centricity Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Kryptiq Secure Messaging, Satellite Med Email and Website, Microsoft Word, Excel, Document Management, Biscom Fax Service and WaspTime.

Computer Systems: GE Centricity Practice Solution EMR, Kryptiq Secure Messaging, Biscom Fax Service, Microsoft Office Suite, Solution Reach patient communications.

Check-In: Obtain patient information utilizing the telemedicine scheduling website. Schedule patient for an appointment, check-in the patient, collect and input insurance information, collect proper payment and payment form, print appropriate receipt for patient, process payment utilizing Satellite Med’s Credit card processor.

Triage: Bring patients to the appropriate room. Do an initial triage including but not limited to vital signs and patient history information. Follow physician protocols and obtain all requested information from the patient or appropriate family member.

Check-Out: Make appropriate follow-up appointment and Import faxes to appropriate chart using Document Management.

Communication: Communicate with all Satellite Med staff, school staff, patients, and referring offices in an intelligent and professional manner using phones, EMR flags and phone notes, and Kryptiq secure messaging and company email; utilizing each method when appropriate. Follows up and seek resolution to complaints per policy and problems and report them to departmental supervisor. Report all incidents as per policy.

Financial: Ensure proper handling of money and payment.

Primary Duties

Direct and indirect patient care services that ensure the safety, comfort, and protection of patients, and supervision of clinical services for patients. The performance of skin tests, injections, and withdrawal of human blood from veins. The observation of signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior or general physical condition, the implementation of appropriate reporting or referral, and the initiation of emergency procedures. Direct and indirect patient care services necessary to implement a treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative regimen ordered by a physician. If an activity overlaps the practice of medicine, the nurse may perform the function only if there is an approved standardized procedure or standing order in place. Assist with clinic phone calls, telemedicine follow up phone calls, pre-certs, and referrals during down time. Monitor inventory of clinical supplies and ordering of supplies based on clinical need.

Orders: Order all appropriate testing including in-house lab work and x-rays as guided by physician protocol.

Test Results: Ensure all results and reports from either in-house testing or outside testing is in the chart prior to the physician seeing the patient or according to the physician’s request.

Procedures: Practice only within the guidelines as permitted by your license and state regulations. Follow appropriate protocol to ensure the patient’s health and safety. Administer medications and appropriate care based upon physician orders.

Discharge: After the physician has completed the examination of the patient and following physician orders, deliver the appropriate medications, instructions, handouts, and answer any questions the patient may have regarding their care.

Phones: Utilize phone system properly, answer phones in a courteous manner, route calls appropriately, create complete flag and phone notes and route appropriately. Reply to all phone notes, flags and emails in a timely manner. Respond to all patient questions and requests within physician protocol or under their specific direction.

Communication: Communicate with all staff, patients, and referring offices using phones, EMR flags, phone notes, Kryptiq secure messaging and Company email; utilizing each method when appropriate. Follow up and seek resolution to complaints per policy and reports them to a supervisor and office manager. Report all incidents as per policy.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners and fax machines.

This position is offered as part-time

Travel

Minimal travel (may include but not limited to or by): pick up/drop off of money bags, receipts, urine, blood samples, stock for the clinic and attend employee meetings.

Preferred Education and Experience

Education

· Completion of an accredited LPN program or Medical Assistant program.

· State license required for LPN

· Certification for Medical Assistant is not required but requested

· BLS and AED certification is required

Experience

No experience is necessary; however it is requested to have experience in the medical field. Pay is based upon experience level.
